History

Institute began its research work in 1956 when the University approved the establishment of the Institute of State Administration, the predecessor of the current Institute for Labour Law and the Institute of Public Administration at the Faculty of Law.

In that context a small group of researchers, began with the exploration of employment and social security matters, among whom the most active were: distinguished Academician Prof. dr. Rudy Kyovsky, a longtime director since its establishment of the Institute for Labour Law until his retirement, Prof. dr. Vilko Rozman, and long-time Professor of Labour Law and Social Security and the recognized and established official of the ILO Prof. dr. Aleksander Radovan.

The next important phase in the development of the Institute for Labour Law has been the establishment of an independent Institute for Labour Law, what happened on 24th of April 1972, with the decision of the Faculty of Law in Ljubljana.

Since then, the Institute for Labour Law had independently developed as a unique academic institution in the field of labor and social legal science, whose mission is the implementation of scientific research and developing relationships with practice.

Previous directors were prof. dr. Vilko Rozman since the establishment of the Institute for Labour Law 1972 until his retirement in 1981, prof. dr. Janez Novak from 1981 until the election of the Supreme Court Judge of the Supreme Court, 1982, prof. dr. Andrej Berden from 1982 to 1986, prof. dr.
